About Us

I have always had a passion for cars. It started when I was a kid. A friend’s dad would take us to the track. We would watch Penske, Donahue, McLaren, and Andretti run Trans-Am and Can-Am. I learned about cars, racing and tested my skills in high school building cars and drag racing. In the mid ‘80’s I crewed for an IMSA GTU Porsche.

I bought an MR2 in 1986 and started autocross. In 1989 I met Mike Galati and crewed for him as he won his first championship. I started running SCCA road races in 1990 and won the 1990 Regional SCCA Championship as well as NEOHIO Region Rookie of the Year and Driver of the Year.

I started running national races in 1991. I ran against Galati every week and Pobst, and Altenberg at the National Run-Offs. I finished the runoffs in the top 5 every year until 1996 when family and career took precedence.

People would ask me if I had retired from racing and my answer was always no, just on hold for now. I sold my business and life took another turn. My son Curtis shares my passion for cars and racing. Curt told me about the Mazda-Speed 3 and what an awesome car it is. We looked for one on the Internet and found one for sale nearby. Several days later he asked me what I was waiting for. I said that I really don’t know. I bought the car.

The spark was ignited. We went to a Tuner Challenge at Mid-Ohio for the Speed Competition. We had the fastest time of the day and won first place. Curt seemed surprised but I knew we had a chance if we could perform. We have gone to a couple of Redline Time Attacks. We did fairly well with a bone stock car. We looked for
Mazda-Speed 3 parts and couldn’t much. At that point we decided to get into the tuning business. SeriouSpeed.com was hatched. Our goal is to market, sell and develop performance import car parts. We started with our focus on the MazdaSpeed 3.

We are campaigning our own MazdaSpeed 3 again this year to win the Redline Time Attack Championship, Stock Front Wheel Drive class.

This is a great chapter in my life. I am doing what I enjoy and sharing it with my son.
We are serious about cars and speed. We want to share it with our customers!
